Oregon Vacation: Saturday & Sunday in Portland

Our first stop was in East Portland, which we've never explored. We found the
Beverly Cleary Sculpture Park (we love Ramona!) in the gorgeous Grant Park
and also enjoyed amazing ice cream at Salt & Straw.

Then we checked into our hotel and headed for dinner at a nearby place.

Watching the Red Sox game, intently. If we had ESPN at home,
I suspect he'd never speak to us.

Lovely table manners.

The kids loved having a pool at the hotel. I was hoping
to counter some of Xander's fear around swimming pools from last summer
and it was a total success! They had a blast splashing around every chance they got.

Amazingly, they did great sharing a bed in the hotel. It went so well, in fact,
that they ended up doing the same at the beach house, even though it had
three bedrooms.

The hotel had a surprisingly yummy breakfast buffet, which included powdered donuts.
Lucky for these two, all the healthy eating rules go out the window
on vacation, so there was much enjoying of ice cream, potato chips,
french fries, and the like (including donuts!) on this trip.

Waiting patiently for the elevator, swimming toys in hand.

On Sunday we headed to Oaks Amuseument Park -- the kids' first experience
at an amusement park. It was a perfect day and they had a fantastic time.

We started small, with the train ride, and then worked our way up to the
roller coaster. The kids loved all the rides.
