We met up with Taya and Anya on campus
Tuesday night for convocation.
The kids had a blast running around on the lawn in front of Old Main
before the big event: this year's freshman class walking through
the corridor or people clapping and welcoming them to WWU.

Always starts with bagpipes!
Clap, clap, clapping...
So many students stopped to give Xander and Anya
high fives. One international student even asked to pose for a photo
with them. But anyone who tried to give Clare a high five was
DENIED. She eventually just moved behind me and hid from everyone. :)
Afterward, they shot of fireworks.

Friday was Silver Beach Elementary's annual Jog-A-Thon,
where the kids raise money for the school by running for 30 minutes.
Here's Xander warming up with his classmate Jacob.
I was there to count laps for them, as well as Gwen, another 3rd grader.
Xander ran the entire time and ended up doing 30 laps. He was fantastic!
We're trying to talk him into cross-country running next year, just like
his dad used to do. :)

They all got soaked to the bone, but had a blast.
Mr. Zigulis ran the entire time, too.
Later, it was Clare's turn. Thankfully, they moved
the Jog-A-Thon indoors.
They got a little more creative with the kindergarteners,
as some of them began to lose interest. But not Clare: Just
like her brother, she ran non-stop the entire 30 minutes!
Clare and her class, enjoying popsicles.
Red-faced after running, showing me how tough she is.
