Baseball, ice cream, and berry picking -- a perfect Pacific Northwest summer week

We went to see a Bells game last Saturday.

It was Clare's first time and she stayed all the way to the end,
when the Bells won it with a walk-off home run.
She was excited to high five the mascot, Dinger.
Some great players have come through Bellingham over the years.

X went running every time a foul ball was hit over our heads
and behind the bleachers.
Clare liked exploring beneath our seats.

Sunday morning we drove out around the lake near our new place
and did a little exploring on one of the trails.

And then we went to Cold Stone Creamery (our first time there).
Thanks again, Mary, Rachele, and Troy for the gift cards!
Garage sale find that obviously had to be purchased for Xander.
Michael and Xander went to see the Red Sox play
against the Mariners on Tuesday night and got t-shirts.
X's might be a little big.
Wednesday the kids and I went to their new elementary
school to check out the summer library hours. X beelined
for the sports section and was very happy with the selection.
They played on the playground for a bit.
Look at that lake view -- not bad!

Yesterday I took the kids raspberry picking. Xander loved it
and ate his weight in fresh berries as we went; Clare not so much
(though she did like holding the bucket for us as we went).

We brought home five pounds and today I'm going to (finally)
use my ice cream maker to make raspberry sorbet.
A few more baseball games left in X's summer season.
He hit three for four last night (thrown out at first on one of his
at bats) and said this game was in his top 10 for hits and making good plays.
