Summer 2019 Road Trip: Days 7-9

Doing the word search over breakfast at the hotel.
We swung by our old favorite vacation spot, Bella Beach. So many great memories of the kids when they were little.

Stopping in Depoe Bay to look for whales.

Another Depoe Bay must-do: buy saltwater taffy.

One of their favorite spots in the hotel: the hot chocolate station.
Heading down to the beach.

I brought a kite and no one else was interested in flying it...until Xander suddenly was!

My favorite spot in the hotel.

Another walk down to the beach, just as the weather began to turn gray.

Watching videos while the parents pack up.

One last hot chocolate, for the road.

We drove up Highway 101, along the coast, and stopped in Astoria at our favorite brewery there.

Michael offered Xander $10 in cold, hard cash if he did an oyster shooter.

Watching to see how it's done.

He did it! (This kid, who is still a pretty picky eater, is clearly motivated by money.

Over the bridge and back to Washington state.

Our hotel in Long Beach was very hipster, very cool.

One last night on the beach.

Amazingly, Clare wanted to set our alarms for 5:30 the next morning, so we could beat weekend traffic and get home faster. Such a peaceful drive along 101...

One very quick stop on the drive home: the Bread Peddler in Oly!
